CELEBRATE MID-AUTUMN FESTIVAL WITH MOONCAKES FROM LANGHAM HOSPITALITY GROUP'S HONG KONG HOTELS
Robust mooncake sales expected to increase 10 per cent from 2012 revenues
12 July 2013
Celebrated on the 15th day of the eighth month of the lunar calendar, the Mid-Autumn Festival falls this year on 19 September. Upholding the fine tradition of mooncake crafting, the three Hong Kong hotels of Langham Hospitality Group – The Langham, Langham Place and Eaton – have unveiled its selection of highly anticipated mooncakes.
This year, Master Chef Mango Tsang of the two Michelin-starred Ming Court restaurant at Langham Place, Mongkok heads the culinary team that created the stellar and modest mooncake line-up. According to him, "the Mid-Autumn Festival has always been one of my favourite holidays when I can experiment with traditional and innovative mooncake ingredients to stimulate my guests' palates." He adds that "combining black truffle and Parma ham together with the traditional mixed nuts is a bold step in Cantonese cuisine, and I'm delighted to hear that our guests really enjoy this sophisticated blend of textures and flavours."
Also making a comeback this year is the popular mini white lotus seed mooncake with its delicate skin and flavourful egg yolk, and the bite-sized custard mooncakes, both presented in auspicious sets of eight each.
With more than 200,000 mooncakes sold and almost HKD5 million generated in revenues last year from the Group's three Hong Kong hotels, Langham's signature mooncakes have received tremendous support from both loyal and new customers, making them collectively one of the highest selling producers in the hotels sector. This year, the Group is projecting a 10 per cent increase in mooncake sales.
"We are very pleased at how highly our mooncakes are regarded by our guests year after year," says Simon Manning, vice president of sales and marketing. "Their popularity is a testament to our chefs who have worked so hard in creating the best selection of mooncakes by using only the finest ingredients." Mr. Manning adds that aside from the mooncakes, "we have dedicated a lot of time and creative resources into the design of the beautifully crafted boxes. They're specially created to not only preserve the sweet and savoury delicacies, but to ensure that they make ideal gifts for our corporate and leisure guests."
Currently available for sale till 18 September 2013, the Langham mooncakes are presented in four different variations.
Discounts of up to 35 per cent are available for corporate orders. For more information and online bookings, visit langhammooncake.com. Guests may also contact the restaurants and hotels directly at the following locations:
