TEENAGER WINS ICONIC LANGHAM PHOTO COMPETITION
Winners of Competition announced

Langham Hospitality Group has announced the winners of the international iconic Langham photo competition. The competition, launched in 2010, aimed to capture images which reflected the iconic spirit of the location. The winning photo was submitted by 16-year old Sandra Liu, a Vancouver native who lives in Hong Kong.
She beat hundreds of other entries from amateur and professional snappers to win the coveted top prize of four nights in a Langham destination of her choice and business class return airfares with Cathay Pacific. Her image captured a vibrant Hong Kong night scene in the autumn.
Sandra said: "My interest for photography only started about a year ago. Honestly, I haven't publicly accomplished much, but I love travelling and taking photos of different things, and right now, photography is just my absolute main interest."
Bob van den Oord, Vice President – Sales & Marketing said: "The competition drew a great response from the photographers who gave us many amazing images to select from. The quality of the images were remarkable and showcased our destinations where have hotels at their finest."
The destination winners are:
Hong Kong - Sandra Liu won with her dynamic Hong Kong night scene. At 16, she is still new to photography having only taken up the hobby a year ago.
Auckland - Craig Garner won with his composition of Early Morning Fog on One Tree Hill, Auckland, an iconic destination made famous by the rock band U2 with the song of the same name.
Melbourne – Myles Prangel l, another young prodigy, is currently completing a Bachelor of Arts in Photography at Charles Sturt University at the Wagga campus, his home town. Although still an undergraduate, Myles has produced a portfolio of work that has opened the eyes of many people.
Beijing – Yeung Wah Hing , 64, captured The Reader under the Wall. He is an avid photographer and loves entering competitions.
Shanghai – Zhang Min Jie works in working in advertising in Chengdu, China. His love affair for photography began in his senior year at high school. He believes beauty can be found everywhere in life. His image of the Shanghai World Expo China Pavilion was the destination winner.
Samui – Hansa Tangmanpoowadol won with his image of a Fisherman's Village in the Angtong district.
Los Angeles – Ahikam Seri won with his striking image of LA's Hollywood Boulevard. Ahikam Seri is a documentary photographer, based in Jerusalem. His work is regularly published in European and US media, and has received awards from National Geographic, Nikon and PDN, among others.
Boston – Janet Landry-Borden captured two sides of Boston architecture with capture entitled Brownstone and Glass, the old and the new, the epitome of Boston Architecture and its way of life. Janet E. Landry-Borden is a photographer and artist from Avon, Massachusetts. She has worked in the field of art for over 30 years.
London – Sid Tawadey is an accomplished artist and experimental photographer. His work Rene Magritte London won him a stay at the iconic Langham in London. He has previously won the London Photo 2010 Award and the International Award for Digital and Photographic Art.
